The trusted traveler program phone number for Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI is CBP's line at (877) 227-5511. Calling it, or calling an enrollment center, does not get you an earlier interview: the dates come from the scheduling system on ttp.dhs.gov, and a phone call does not change what it shows.

The line is still worth knowing. It handles a short list of problems, and calling the wrong agency wastes a day. Below: which number goes with which agency, what the CBP call can do, and the options that do shorten a months-long wait.

TSA itself sends Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI members to CBP at (877) 227-5511. The TSA lines below answer PreCheck questions only.

Individual enrollment centers also have their own desks. These numbers come from CBP's enrollment center pages for New York:

JFK Terminal 4(718) 553-1237
Niagara Falls(716) 282-4663

Alexandria Bay(315) 482-2261
Ogdensburg(315) 393-1390

Numbers vary by source and by page version. The CBP Charlotte (CLT) page we fetched lists (980) 235-1622, while a newer search snippet shows the general (877) 227-5511 line instead. Confirm the number on cbp.gov before you call.

What the CBP phone line is for

  • Cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment. Call (877) 227-5511. Outside that window, use Reschedule/Cancel Interview on your TTP dashboard.
  • Accommodation requests. CBP says to contact the specific center where your interview is booked, as early as possible before the date.
  • Membership problems. A card that never arrived, an account you cannot get into, or a PASSID/KTN that does not work.

Nothing in CBP's published guidance describes the phone line as a way to get a different interview slot.

Worked example: what a call changes (nothing) and what does

The numbers below are made up to show the arithmetic. Check your own centers on the live pages.

Say you were conditionally approved on March 1. On the Global Entry availability page, your home center's next bookable date reads August 1, which is 153 days out. A center 90 miles away reads April 15, which is 45 days out.

OptionInterview dateDays from March 1
Call your home centerStill August 1153
Call CBP at (877) 227-5511Still August 1153
Book the center 90 miles awayApril 1545

Booking the farther center saves 108 days at the cost of a 180-mile round trip. Your real gap will differ, so look at your own center and its neighbors on the live wait-time pages:

Bars of days from March 1: calling home center or CBP leaves 153 days, booking the center 90 miles away gives 45 days, saving 108 days.

The Global Entry availability page, at /global-entry-appointment-availability, lists each center's next bookable date. It does not tell you whether a slot is open right now.

What shortens the wait

  1. Check other centers. The comparison above is the most common fix. Each center keeps its own calendar.
  2. Use Enrollment on Arrival. If you are conditionally approved and flying back into the US on an international flight, you can finish the interview at the airport. Completing it automatically cancels a scheduled interview. See what Enrollment on Arrival is.
  3. Renewing? You may not need an interview. You can renew starting 1 year before expiry. If you file before your membership expires, benefits continue for up to 24 months after expiry, and CBP may not require an interview.

For the background-check versus interview timeline, read Global Entry turnaround time. CBP's how-to-apply page says 80% of applications are approved within 2 weeks, but some take 12 months or longer. After conditional approval, each applicant, including each family member, books a separate interview. The interview takes about 15 minutes.

Questions you do not need to call about

  • Your PASSID/KTN. It is a 9-digit number that usually starts with 15, 98 or 99. Find it on the back of your card or in your TTP account.
  • Passport details. Update them in TTP under Update Documents. A name change requires a visit to an enrollment center.
  • Card activation and arrival. Cards arrive 2–4 weeks after approval. Activate a new card within 30 days.
  • Fees. The CBP fee is $120 for Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI, for 5 years, and it is non-refundable even if you are denied. Some cached CBP pages still say $100. Replacing a card costs $25, and registering a SENTRI vehicle after the initial application costs $42. Minors under 18 are free with a parent.

Catching a cancelled slot

GlobalEntryTexts texts you when a Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI interview appointment opens at the enrollment centers you choose. It costs $25, paid once, for 30 days of monitoring, and it is not a subscription. You can watch up to 3 enrollment centers per 30-day window for the same price. Each purchase covers one program.

Alerts are SMS texts only, and you need no account or login. You book the appointment yourself on ttp.dhs.gov. GlobalEntryTexts never books for you.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You usually do not need to. The 9-digit number is on the back of your card and in your TTP account. Call (877) 227-5511 only if neither shows it or it does not work.

  • The TSA Contact Center and the PreCheck enrollment line handle PreCheck, not Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI. They will send you back to CBP, so start with the CBP line.

  • The CBP application fee is $120 for Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI, and each membership lasts 5 years. TSA PreCheck costs $78–$85 for 5 years, depending on the enrollment provider.

  • No. After conditional approval, each applicant, including each family member, books a separate interview. Minors under 18 are free with a parent.
