Missed Global Entry Interview: Keep Your $120 and Rebook
A missed Global Entry interview does not forfeit your $120 application fee, according to Appt Helper. The slot itself is forfeited and released to other travelers, and you reschedule by logging into your Trusted Traveler Program account on the official CBP site, ttp.cbp.dhs.gov. The money is at risk only if you let the application lapse, which turns a $120 problem into a $240 one.
What a missed Global Entry interview costs: a worked example
Worked example: a traveler applies for Global Entry, pays the $120 fee by credit card or electronic bank transfer, and gets conditional approval after the background check. The interview is the last step. Then she misses the appointment. Two paths follow.
| Path | What she does | Fees paid in total |
|---|---|---|
| Reschedule | Logs into the TTP account and books a new interview slot | $120 |
| Let it lapse | Does nothing until the conditional approval window passes, the application expires with no refund, and she applies again | $120 + $120 = $240 |
The $120 fee is nonrefundable, even if an application is denied (Capital One). That is why the lapse path costs a second fee: the first one is gone, and a new application needs its own payment (Appt Helper).

How to reschedule after you miss the slot
- Log into your TTP account at ttp.cbp.dhs.gov.
- Look for the missed appointment. Appt Helper says the missed slot disappears from your account within 24 hours.
- Pick a new enrollment center and date from what the system offers.
- If your appointment is less than 24 hours away, rescheduling or cancelling may require a call to 1-877-227-5511 (Capital One).
Do this soon. The conditional approval window is what keeps your $120 attached to the application, and its length is not something this site can tell you for your case. Check your TTP account for the dates it shows.
How long until the next interview date
Appt Helper says the next available slots in most major metros are typically 8 to 12 months out, and that JFK, LAX and Miami often show no availability for the rest of 2026. Treat those as one source's snapshot. The dates at your center may be different today.
To see your own center:
- Open Global Entry appointment availability for each center's next bookable date.
- Open Global Entry wait times to compare wait times across centers.
- If you are applying for NEXUS, use NEXUS wait times. SENTRI applicants have a matching SENTRI wait-times page on this site.
The availability page shows the next bookable date. It does not show whether a slot is open right now. A farther center with an earlier date can beat your home center, if you can travel to it.
Enrollment on Arrival skips the booking
Enrollment on Arrival lets conditionally approved Global Entry applicants interview without booking ahead, at an eligible airport when reentering the U.S. (Capital One). If you have an international trip coming, this can replace a rebooking.
What happens if you miss more than once
CBP does not publish a specific policy on multiple missed appointments, and enrollment center staff have discretion. Appt Helper says missing two or more may trigger additional scrutiny.
Appt Helper lists these as acceptable reasons for a last-minute cancellation:
- A hospitalization-level medical emergency
- A death in the immediate family
- Military deployment orders
- A natural disaster affecting travel
Routine medical appointments, work conflicts and travel delays generally do not qualify for special accommodation. Cancel in your account before the slot, even if it is the day before, so the slot goes back to other travelers.
Details that cause a second miss
- Each applicant books their own interview. Families cannot make a joint appointment.
- The interview takes about 15 minutes.
- Applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian present.
- Adults bring a valid passport or permanent resident card, plus one more ID such as a driver's license.
For NEXUS, each family member needs their own interview slot, and an applicant who starts at an airport cannot finish at a land enrolment centre (CBSA).
Renewals and what comes after
A renewal may not need an interview, and if one is required it may be possible remotely. Memberships last five years, and renewal can start one year before expiry (Capital One).
After a Global Entry interview, CBP says the time to a final decision varies and cannot be expedited (Capital One). NEXUS cards are expected within 4 to 6 weeks (CBSA).

Hearing about an earlier slot
If your new date is months away, GlobalEntryTexts texts you when a Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI interview appointment opens at the enrollment centers you choose. It costs $25, paid once, for 30 days of monitoring, and you can watch up to 3 enrollment centers for that price. You book the appointment yourself on ttp.dhs.gov; GlobalEntryTexts never books for you. If no openings are found at your selected centers during the monitoring window, you can request a refund.
